The Doll’s House on the Ship

This is the story of a beloved dollhouse that traveled around the world.

It was first built in 1913 by a carpenter in Milan for a lucky little girl. When that girl grew up, she passed the dollhouse on to her daughter. When that girl had to flee to England to escape Nazi persecution of Jews, the little house followed her across the sea and stayed with her until the end of a world war. Later, the daughter returned to Italy and took the dollhouse with her. It was passed down from mother to daughter for two more generations. Then, almost magically, the little dollhouse was passed on to other children who loved it just as much as the little girl had once loved it.
